Legacy of Charity

Randolph Emmanuel Marrett was born on December 3, 1929 of very humble origins in Duanvale, Trelawny in Jamaica. He was the second of six children born to Adolphos and Catherine Marrett. He gave his heart to the Lord quite early and by the time he was a young man was a deacon and a devoted tither in the church. It was during these years that Mr. Marrett developed his habit of giving. He was a generous soul. Believing in proverbs 19:17 which says, “Whoever is generous to the poor, lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed,” later in life,  he developed a tradition by which he would give to the poorest in his hometown of Duanvale, Trelawny, Jamaica. He and his wife, Phanuel maintained a strong connection with this community even after he migrated to a new country.

Brother Marrett and his wife Phanuel, established the first program under the Marrett fund. It was called the Randolph Marrett Christmas Fund. The fund was used to support a list of approximately 50 of the poorest families from Duanvale; under the administration of Ms Daphnie Gomez. This program has been in effect for 37 years, to date. Today, this legacy is being carried on by his children, in partnership with GoInspired Jamaica Foundation, a local charity.

Mr Marrett established a legacy of charity, in a way that is scarcely done. I deeply respect and value such a movement.
